Sport 24 extends F1 rights deal

Sport 24, the live sports channel produced and distributed by the IMG Media agency exclusively for the in-flight and in-ship markets, has signed a three-year extension to its rights deal for the Formula One motor racing championship.

The deal, which covers the 2014, 2015 and 2016 F1 seasons, will provide enhanced levels of content for Sport 24. Along with live coverage of every race, Sport 24 will also be able to feature practice rounds and qualifying sessions from each grand prix.

Richard Wise, senior vice-president of IMG Media, said: “We are delighted to have renewed our deal with Formula One Management for the next three F1 seasons and are particularly pleased that we will now be able to show each grand prix in its entirety should the schedules allow.”

He added: “With other new content deals in place for 2014 and more major airlines due to trial the channel before the end of the year, this is an exciting time for Sport 24.”
