Tokyo 2020 will reportedly need ¥43.8bn (€363.3m/$389.9m) to develop or improve the 11 venues for the summer Olympic Games that are located outside the capital, plus a further ¥50bn to transform the athletes’ village into housing after the event, as the organising committee said it would seek to scale back test events as a means to cut costs.
