Sony picks up rights to Chennai Open

Media company Sony Pictures Networks India has acquired rights for the Chennai Open, the country’s only men’s ATP World Tour tennis event.

Sony is broadcasting live coverage of this year’s event on its Sony Six Sony and Six HD premier sports channels. The 2017 Chennai Open started yesterday (Monday) and will run until Sunday.

Sony will also stream live coverage of the tournament via its Sony Liv mobile application and its official website.

Sony already has rights in India to a number of other major tennis events, such as the Australian Open, the ATP World Tour Masters 1,000 series and the season-ending ATP World Tour finals.

Switzerland’s Stan Warwinka (pictured) won the men’s singles contest at last year’s Chennai Open, beating Croatian Borna Ćorić 6-3, 7-5 in the final.
