Paris 2024 bolsters financial standing with new sponsor deals

The organising committee behind Paris’s bid to host the 2024 Olympic Games has agreed sponsorship deals with four major French companies.

The Paris 2024 bid committee has signed partnerships with Caisse des Depots, Elior Group, JCDecaux and RATP, with each company set to contribute around €2m ($2.2m) to the bid’s budget.

Paris 2024 chief executive Etienne Thobois said: “We now look forward to working with our partners to spread the message of Olympism across our city and nations so the public can really take part and engage with our campaign to become the Olympic host city in 2024.”

Paris 2024 last month named Francaise des Jeux (FDJ), which operates the French national lottery, as its first official sponsor. FDJ will also pay €2m to serve as a partner. The bid committee said it is currently negotiating a further four sponsorship deals, details of which were not disclosed.

The Paris 2024 bid logo is due to be revealed later today (Tuesday) at a ceremony on the Champs-Elysees.

The French capital faces competition from Los Angeles in the US, Rome in Italy and Budapest, Hungary in its bid to stage the Games. The International Olympic Committee will announce the host city in September 2017.
