Pac-12 Networks goes global with YouTube deal

Pac-12 Networks, the content and multi-platform media company for the Pac-12 US college sports conference, is to distribute programming to international audiences through a subscription channel on video-sharing website YouTube.

The launch will make Pac-12 Networks the first live streaming subscription sports channel operating on a 24/7 basis on YouTube.

The channel, which is due to launch in late August, will distribute the Pac-12 Network feed as well as video-on-demand content to 27 countries. The service will be expanded to additional countries over time.

Pac-12 Networks will live stream 850 events this year, including 35 American football games, 150 men’s basketball matches and hundreds of Olympic sports events.

Pac-12 Networks will also stream various studio programmes, exclusive content and original programming.

“Securing international distribution has been a top priority for us, especially knowing that we have so many alumni and a growing fan base outside of the United States,” Pac-12 Networks president Lydia Murphy-Stephans said.
