Nike replaces Adidas as University of Michigan partner

Nike will replace sportswear rival Adidas as a partner of the University of Michigan in the US.

The deal will run for 12 years, from 2016 to 2027, with Nike having the option to extend the partnership by four years, through to 2031.

The agreement covers all of the university’s varsity teams, with the basketball teams wearing Nike’s Jordan brand.

Financial details will not be disclosed until next week, the university said.

Michigan switched from Nike to Adidas by signing a 10-year deal in 2007 worth a total of $82m (€73m).

Adidas also lost the University of Tennessee to Nike earlier this year.
