Newcastle Knights move in with new partner Huntlee

Australian NRL rugby league club the Newcastle Knights has partnered with Huntlee, a newly-developed town in the Hunter region of New South Wales, the state in which the team is based.

Huntlee will sponsor the Knights’ jerseys for the next three years in a deal that covers the 2016 to 2018 NRL seasons. The Huntlee logo will feature prominently in the sternum position of the Knights shirt.

Knights chief executive Matt Gidley said: “Huntlee is a world-class development right here in the heart of Hunter. We are thrilled to partner with an organisation which is not only boosting the local economy but creating an entire town which many Hunter families will be proud to call home.”

The new jerseys will be worn for the first time during the Auckland Nines pre-season tournament in New Zealand, which the Knights are set to take part in next February before the start of the 2016 NRL season.

Huntlee is the first new town to be built in the Hunter Valley in more than 50 years. On completion, it will comprise four neighbourhood villages surrounding a 200 hectare town centre. In total, it will boast 7,500 dwellings.
