MTG secures Finnish rights to Uefa national team properties

Modern Times Group, the multi-territory commercial and pay-television broadcaster, has acquired exclusive rights in Finland to a range of national team events organised by Uefa, European football's governing body.

MTG will hold rights to qualifiers for the Uefa Euro 2020 tournament, which will be co-hosted by a number of cities across Europe.

The deal also grants MTG rights to European qualifiers for the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar, as well as the 2018-19 and 2020-21 editions of Uefa’s Nations League competition.

A total of 250 national team games per season will be shown through MTG’s Viasat and Viaplay subscription services, with a select number of high-profile matches to be shown through advertising-funded streaming service Viafree, which launched in Finland last month.
