MLS expansion franchise secures shirt sponsor for debut season

Major League Soccer expansion franchise Atlanta United has named insurance company American Family as its first-ever shirt sponsor.

American Family has signed a multi-year deal to become the official insurance partner of Atlanta United, with the company’s branding set to feature on the front of the club’s playing jerseys as part of the agreement.

In addition, American Family will title sponsor Atlanta United’s first-team tryout tour, which will take place ahead of the club’s MLS debut in 2017. Potential players will be invited to take part in trials for the club’s first team at four separate events.

American Family also sponsors Atlanta’s NFL American football team, the Falcons, and earlier this year became a founding partner of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the future home of the two franchises.

The company will enjoy a range of branding and advertising privileges at the stadium and will organise fan activations during select Atlanta United home games.

MLS awarded a franchise to Atlanta in April 2014.
