Minnesota Vikings brew partnership for new stadium’s regular season debut

NFL American football franchise the Minnesota Vikings has entered into a partnership with coffee retail chain Caribou Coffee.

As part of the deal, which names the Minnesota-based company as the official coffee of the Vikings, an alcoholic coffee bar will open at U.S. Bank Stadium, the team’s home ground. The length of the agreement was not disclosed but the deal will at least cover the 2016 season, which got underway last week.

The bar will be situated on the main concourse in the southwest corner of U.S. Bank Stadium. It will be in operation during the Vikings’ home fixture against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday in what will mark the first regular-season game to be played at the new ground.

Caribou will craft three specialty coffees for Vikings fans, with drinks to feature purple whip and a brownie flight to match the team’s colours. Concession stands throughout the ground will also feature Caribou coffee and hot chocolate.

“We pride ourselves on providing our fans with a memorable experience at U.S. Bank Stadium, and this partnership with Caribou will certainly add to that,” Vikings executive vice-president and chief marketing officer Steve LaCroix said.

“Being able to work with another Minnesota company to bring these drinks inside U.S. Bank Stadium is something we’re certain our fans will enjoy.”

The two parties will also collaborate on a number of community initiatives, including the Vikings’ Breast Cancer Awareness game next month.
