Mediaset ramps up Basketball World Cup coverage following complaints

Mediaset Spain will be able to show more games from the ongoing Basketball World Cup after fans complained about the commercial broadcaster’s limited coverage of the tournament, which is taking place in Spain.

According to the Laguia TV news website, Fiba, basketball’s global governing body, will allow Mediaset to show six additional games during the group phase of the tournament via the broadcaster’s Mitele.es website.

The games will be from the groups featuring host nation Spain and the US national team.

Mediaset had scheduled coverage of two games per day during the group phase – only 15 of the tournament’s opening 60 games.

More than 1,000 basketball fans had signed a petition on the Change.org website to complain about the level of coverage.
