ITTF signs up Chinese partner for World Championships

Chinese door manufacturer TATA Tongchuang has entered into a partnership with the International Table Tennis Federation, through which it will sponsor this year’s individual World Championships in Dusseldorf, Germany.

TATA Tongchuang will serve as a major partner of the event, which runs from May 29 to June 5.

The partnership represents the latest deal to be struck by the ITTF since it opted to exploit its rights in-house at the start of the year after ending its exclusive commercial and marketing agreement with TMS International.

The ITTF signed the deal together with the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB) and Table Tennis Marketing (TMG).

Steve Dainton, the ITTF’s marketing and commercial director, said: “With a global reach of around 400 million, our World Championships is a powerful tool for brands to promote themselves inside and outside China, so I am sure that the TATA Tongchuang’s partnership with the event will fulfil and even succeed their company’s goals from our partnership. We are already in discussion with TATA Tongchuang for a longer-term partnership to open many more doors for them in a larger scale through table tennis.”

TATA Tongchuang joins a list of global partners that includes Liebherr, ARAG, Tissot, Double Happiness, Nittaku and Gerflor.
