IOC wraps up Rio 2016 rights with Cuban deal

The International Olympic Committee has completed its rights sales for the 2016 summer Olympic Games after agreeing a deal with Cuban state broadcaster Instituto Cubano de Radio y Televisión.

ICRT, a long-time Olympic Games rights-holder, has been awarded the exclusive broadcast rights in Cuba for the Games, which will be held in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.

ICRT has acquired the rights across all broadcast platforms, including free-to-air television, subscription television, internet and mobile phone in all languages.

Rafael Yaech, from ICRT, said: “The broadcast of the Olympic Games in Cuba is a celebration for our hard working people and our quality of life. We are pleased with this agreement with the International Olympic Committee, with the assurance that we will continue to work together in favour of sports.”
