ING-DiBa, the German subsidiary of Dutch financial services giant ING, has extended its status as the main sponsor of the German Basketball Federation (DBB), along with its endorsement deal with German basketball superstar Dirk Nowitzki.
ING-DiBa has sponsored the DBB and its associated national teams since 2003. Its new contract with the governing body, and Dallas Mavericks power forward Nowitzki, will run until September 2016.
It will also continue its backing of the ‘BasKIDball’ initiative, which was established by Nowitzki in 2007 and offers basketball training and education programmes to children across 14 German cities.
The new agreement comes ahead of the 2014 Basketball World Cup, which takes place in Spain from August 30 to September 14. Germany was eliminated in the group stages of the previous edition of the event in 2010, when it was known as the World Championship.
