Chinese telecommunications company Huawei has agreed a sponsorship deal with the Lithuanian Basketball Federation (LKF).
Under the agreement, the terms of which were not disclosed, Huawei will serve as the title sponsor of the LKF’s newly formed national team friendly tournament.
The Huawei Cup 2014 will take place in Kaunas from August 16-18 and forms a major part of Lithuania’s preparations for the International Basketball Federation (Fiba) World Cup in Spain, which runs from August 30 to September 14.
Additionally, Huawei will collaborate with the LKF on social projects and grassroots initiatives.
Lithuania secured a bronze medal in the previous edition of the Basketball World Cup four years ago in Turkey, before losing to Russia in the quarter-finals of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
