The German Football Association (DFB) has today (Friday) confirmed that it will bid to host Uefa Euro 2024, and has opened a process for cities to apply to be part of the project.
The DFB has hosted the national team tournament on one previous occasion in 1988 and has been considering a bid for Euro 2024 for a number of years. The DFB made a unanimous decision to back a bid at a meeting today and said it will submit its official declaration of interest to European football’s governing body by March 3.
The DFB will seek to choose 10 stadiums for the tournament and has requested venues with a capacity of at least 30,000 to declare their interest by February 17. A decision on the 10 venues will be made on September 15. The DFB noted that it has engaged the Transparency International non-governmental organisation to assist with its bid.
