ESPN scores LaLiga rights in South America

The ESPN International division of sports broadcaster ESPN has acquired rights in Spanish-speaking South America to LaLiga and the Segunda División, the top two divisions of club football in Spain.

The deal will run for five seasons, from 2015-16 to 2019-20. Under the agreement brokered by the Mediapro agency, ESPN International will have the rights to broadcast 190 LaLiga games and 231 Segunda División matches per season.

It also covers more than 80 hours of highlights and support programming each season, including the ‘Liga Show’ and ‘La Liga World’ weekly programmes.

ESPN International will broadcast coverage of LaLiga and Segunda Division across its five television channels in the region: ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPN+ and ESPNHD.

Coverage will also be streamed on the broadcaster’s digital platforms including the ESPN.com and ESPNFC.com websites, the ESPN FC mobile application and ESPN mobile Web.
