The European Broadcasting Union consortium of free-to-air broadcasters has secured a media-rights agreement for the new European Sports Championship multi-sport event.
Although the terms of the deal were not disclosed, the deal will cover at least the first edition of the event in 2018.
The EBU will broadcast more than 2,700 hours of free-to-air coverage throughout the 12-day event.
The 2018 European Sports Championship will gather European athletes in athletics, swimming, cycling, rowing, triathlon and golf. Events will take place in the Scottish city of Glasgow and Berlin, Germany.
The agreement comes after the EBU renewed a worldwide media-rights partnership with the European Athletics governing body.
The deal will run for four years, from 2016 to 2019 The agreement comprises television and radio rights for various European Athletics events including the Amsterdam 2016 and Berlin 2018 European Athletics Championships.
