Deutsche Post enters winter sports sponsorship market

Courier company Deutsche Post has agreed a multi-year deal to become a premium partner of the Bobsleigh and Luge Federation of Germany (BSD).

The partnership, which commences from the 2014-15 season, marks Deutsche Post’s maiden move into winter sports sponsorship and includes branding on the sports equipment and clothing of bobsleigh and skeleton athletes in Germany’s men’s and women’s national teams.

Additionally, Deutsche Post takes on the naming sponsorship for the Königssee bobsleigh, luge and skeleton track.

The precise length and financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed but BSD secretary general Thomas Schwab said: “This gives us security in planning for the next Olympics and secures professional work in terms of sporting achievements up to the 2018 winter Games in PyeongChang.”
