Debut International Champions Cup China unveils sponsors

Organisers of the inaugural International Champions Cup China have revealed the first wave of sponsors that have signed up to support the debut edition of the pre-season club football tournament.

Electronics manufacturer Samsung has become the premium partner of the event and will promote its mobile phone handsets to spectators.

German sportswear giant Adidas and video games developer EA Sports have also signed up to sponsor the event in China, along with the country’s electrical bicycle manufacturer Luyuan and electronics retailer Suning.

International Champions Cup organisers Relevent Sports and Catalyst Media Group – both part of sports investment group RSE Ventures – confirmed in March that this year’s edition of the tournament will expand to China.

The new Chinese competition will take place in late July and run parallel with the established North American version and the Australian tournament.
