Canal Plus races on with IndyCar

French pay-television broadcaster Canal Plus has agreed a one-season extension to its rights deal for US motor racing series IndyCar.

The Mediasportif.fr website said Canal Plus will continue to cover IndyCar in France for its 2016 season, which commences on March 13 with the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in the state of Florida.

Three French drivers competed in the 2015 IndyCar season in the shape of Sebastien Bourdais, Simon Pagenaud and Tristan Vautier.

IndyCar will remain in a Canal Plus motorsport portfolio which also includes Formula One and Formula E. Canal Plus in November took up the option of a two-season extension to its rights contract with Formula One covering the 2016 and 2017 campaigns.
