Canal Digital resolves carriage dispute with Discovery Networks

The Canal Digital pay-television platform in the Nordic region has agreed a deal with Discovery Networks to renew carriage of the Eurosport Norge and TV Norge pay-television channels.

The channels have been unavailable on Canal Digital for the past 10 days, according to the Broadband TV News website.

Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed. The length of the deal was not confirmed, but Canal Digital will have access to the channels’ coverage of football’s English Premier League from 2017, according to various reports.

“This is a forward-looking agreement that gives customers access to good local and international content tailored to customer usage habits,” Canal Digital chief executive Ragnar Kårhus said.

Harald Strømme, chief executive of TV Norge and Discovery Networks, added: “We have arrived at a solution that enables us to continue to invest in good, Norwegian content. These have been demanding negotiations, but we have finally arrived at a good solution, especially for viewers. They will now have access to more Norwegian football and at a cheaper cost in the coming years.”
