Botafogo extends Caixa shirt sponsorship

Government-owned banking group Caixa has extended its shirt sponsorship deal with Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A football club Botafogo.

The new agreement will cover the 2017 season.

As part of the deal, Caixa’s branding will feature on the chest and back areas of Botafogo’s senior and U20 teams’ jerseys, and on the teams’ shorts.

Botafogo president Carlos Eduardo Pereira said: “It is a contract of up to R$15m (€4.4m/$4.8m), linked to performance clauses, which demonstrates the degree of professionalism of Caixa, as it deals with the sponsorship of the sport.

“For Botafogo, it is very important that this occurs at a time when the soccer team, the flagship of the sponsorship, is showing good results and playing for the (Copa) Libertadores. It is a very positive partnership and we are confident that we will be able to achieve all the goals set out in the contract.”

Caixa holds shirt sponsorship deals with a host of Brazilian clubs and in recent months has extended partnerships with Flamengo, Atlético Mineiro, Coritiba and Santos.

Caixa first partnered with Rio de Janeiro-based Botafogo in September.
