Betway adds Davis Cup to ITF partnership

Betting and gaming company Betway has been named an international sponsor of the Davis Cup and Fed Cup, the flagship men’s and women’s national team tournaments of the International Tennis Federation.

Betway has agreed a three-year deal to sponsor the two events until 2018. It was introduced as a partner of the Fed Cup at this year’s final between Russia and the Czech Republic on the weekend of November 14-15.

As part of the agreement, Betway will receive courtside branding at Davis Cup and Fed Cup group-stage ties. It will also work with organisers of both tournaments on fan engagement initiatives over the course of the three-year deal.

The ITF stressed that all elements of the new partnership are fully compliant with the rules and interpretations of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Programme.

“Betway is a well-respected international betting brand,” International Tennis Federation president David Haggerty said. “The ITF and Betway share the mission to keep the sport of tennis clean.”

Anthony Werkman, marketing and operations director of Betway, added: “We are especially looking forward to this weekend’s Davis Cup by BNP Paribas final in Belgium, as it is a key market for us following our recent launch in the country.”

The 2015 Davis Cup final will be contested by host country Belgium and Great Britain. Belgium has never won the tournament, while Great Britain last lifted the trophy in 1936. Switzerland is the current champion.

The Czech Republic, led by two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitová, defeated Russia in this year’s Fed Cup final.
