Sport and the City

Mobile Apps for SportSport and The City is a series of short executive level events around finance and sport produced by SportBusiness Group and sponsored and hosted by Bloomberg TV at the Finsbury Square Venue.

Following the huge success of our launch event Sport and the City: Formula One. The next Sport and the City event will take place on Monday 31st October and will focus on the exciting world of Horse Racing. Featuring a host of top speakers from across the industry along with crucial data and fantastic networking opportunities.

This event will link the City to the turf, giving the business community an understanding of how racing operates and promoting investment and best practice in the sport.

Sport and The City: Horse Racing 31st October 2011 

Attendees at Sport and The City events learn how to maximise their organisations involvement with the sport. How the Horse Racing world works, how the various business interact and how typical problems are overcome. Our speakers come from a broad range of fields with the sport, giving you a full 360 degree view of Horse Racing in 2011. In additions to the presentations and roundtable discussion, the event will also feature extensive networking opportunities.

Formula One comes to the City

SportBusiness and Bloomberg TV will presented on 6 April the first conference covering the business of Formula One motor racing to be held in the City of London.

F1 and the City have never been closer. The Williams team is planning a flotation and the sport’s rights-holder is owned by a private equity firm. This conference will feature the sport’s most senior management executives who will give delegates the opportunity to question them about the direction which the business of F1 is going in.

The aim of Sport and the City: Formula 1, is to increase understanding in the business community of how F1 operates and to promote investment in the sport. Delegates will learn from case studies how to maximise their return on investment from dealing with businesses in F1 and how to overcome the hurdles they may face. Presentations will come from experts working in a wide range of fields within the sport from legal and sponsorship to governance and technology transfer.

Confirmed Speakers at this landmark event include:

  • Dominic Crossley: Partner at law firm Collyer Bristow.Lawyer for Jaguar Racing team principal Tony Purnell, former Fédération Internationale de l’Autosmobile president Max Mosley and ex-world champion Nelson Piquet.
  • Valerie Servageon Grande: Marketing director of Hublot. An official F1 partner and major sponsor of the sport.
  • Robert Montague: Chairman of Enterprise Entertainment.The organiser of F1 Rocks, the multi-artist live music events from Formula 1 race locations around the world.
  • Sadie Wigglesworth: Head of sponsorship acquisition and media for Force India. Force India F1 team lists Kingfisher, Whyte & Mackay, Medion, Royal Challenge, Airbus, EADS and many more as its sponsors.
  • Geoff McGrath: Managing director of McLaren Applied Technologies. The F1 giants Applied Technologies division focuses on using technology developed in the sport in other industries (such as medical and entertainment) demonstrating the outside business impact which F1 can have.
  • Oliver Gadney: UK head of sponsorship, UBSUBS is a Global Partner of Formula 1.
  • Robin Fenwick: Managing director and founder of the Right Formula agency.
    Clients include McLaren partners Hilton and forex broker XTB.
