Inaugurated in 2010, and held annually alongside TheStadiumBusiness Summit, TheStadiumBusiness Awards recognise leadership, innovation and achievement in the delivery, operation and management of sports facilities globally. After the unprecedented success of the 2011 Awards - hosted by FC Barcelona at the world-famous Camp Nou stadium in June 2011 - executives from the global stadium sector are now invited to enter their nominations ahead of the 2012 prize-giving.
In total, 18 awards will be presented at the gala evening, which will be held in Turin, Italy on May 15. "The Awards were created in order to drive awareness of the stadium, arena and sports venue sector, and to promote the successes that are accomplished throughout the global industry," said Ian Nuttall, Awards founder and chair of TheStadiumBusiness Awards judging panel.
He continued: "We are therefore looking for the safest, the smartest, the most customer-friendly and the greatest stadium experiences on the planet. We are also looking for the best stadium operators - the individuals that consistently deliver great sporting events and customer service - and for the latest industry innovations."
Nominations close at midnight (GMT) on March 2, with the shortlists for each category announced on April 2. Any venue (stadium, arena, circuit, ballpark, sports ground), company, organisation, association, team, club or individual that has been involved in the stadium/sports venue sector between January 1, 2011 and March 2, 2012 is eligible to enter, or be nominated for, TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2012.
