FIS drives away with Audi extension

Audi has signed a six-year extension to its long-running title sponsorship of the FIS Ski World Cup.

The German car manufacturer has been active in winter sports for almost three decades and its new agreement with the International Ski Federation (FIS) will further a partnership that began in the 2002-03 season. The announcement comes after Audi agreed to become title sponsor of the Ski Cross World Cup in October.

“Winter sport provides us with a perfect stage,” said Peter Schwarzenbauer, board member for marketing and sales of Audi AG. “Winter, snow and ice – Audi feels very at home in this world. We look forward to exciting competitions and want to inspire even more people for the wide variety of disciplines.”

Gian Franco Kasper, president of FIS, added: “The partnership between Audi and FIS celebrates a major milestone. From the very first day, we have enjoyed a working relationship based on trust and a great spirit of innovation. I'm delighted that we will now continue this co-operation in the same manner.”
