The five-year agreement with RAM will see the Swiss company create a special, limited edition watch to commemorate UIPM's 100-year anniversary within the Olympic Movement. It will also manufacture a collection of timepieces featuring the UIPM logo.
UIPM president Dr Klaus Schormann said: “This is a very prestigious partnership for both parties. We are thrilled for such a well-respected watch company to be creating an iconic watch for this special occasion. We hope this agreement will be fruitful for UIPM for many years to come.”
Meanwhile, Speedo will continue as the official modern pentathlon worldwide swimwear supplier up until 2013. The renewal of the agreement ensures that the 72 athletes lining up at the 2012 London Olympics will all be kitted out with the state-of-the-art Speedo Championship suit.
UIPM vice-president for business affairs John Helmick added: “On this occasion of our sport's 100-year anniversary, UIPM is pleased to be continuing this relationship with Speedo. It provides not only cash for UIPM to continue to develop our sport into our next century, but moreover, provides valuable equipment to our top athletes, including the most technically advanced racing suits.”
