Lord Coe, who is chairman of the London organising committee for the 2012 Olympic Games and a vice-president of the International Association of Athletics Federations, will make a presentation on this year’s IAAF World Athletic Championships in Daegu, Korea. The session is one of a number to focus on the lessons to be learned from this year’s major sporting events, with other sessions set to look at the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the Cricket World Cup.
“I am delighted to be involved in the International Sports Event Management Conference and have the opportunity to share IAAF’s experiences on the organisation and success of the World Championships held in Daegu this year,” Lord Coe said. “Daegu really embraced the championships, the organising committee made it a great success and the city built a fantastic championship atmosphere.”
Richard Worth, chairman of the America’s Cup Event Authority, London 2012 CEO Paul Deighton, Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics CEO Dmitry Chernyshenko and Helmut Spahn, executive director of the International Centre for Sport Security, will also speak at the event. International Basketball Federation commercial director Mathew Osman, the Jockey Club CEO Simon Bazalgette, IMG’s Andrew Wildblood and Gordon Lott, head of London 2012 partnerships at Lloyds Banking Group, will also participate.
“The world of sports events never stands still and we are delighted to have assembled some of the most experienced and influential individuals in the sector to share their knowledge, expertise and insight with delegates,” conference chairman Kevin Roberts said. The conference will take place on October 12-13 at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in London.
