Eurosport will show at least 100 hours of coverage from this year's World Championships in Daegu, Korea, taking place from August 10-18. The deal includes rights for other events from the IAAF's World Athletics Series, including the 2012 World Indoor Championships, the World Marathon and Half-Marathon Championships, the Youth and Junior World Championships and Cross country World Championships.
According to TV Sports Markets, coverage will be available on the Eurosport and Eurosport 2 television channels, internet and mobile. The agreement was brokered by IEC in Sports. "This deal is excellent news for the IAAF as there are now broadcasting agreements in place covering more than 100 territories throughout 40 different deals in Europe and Africa," said IAAF president Lamine Diack.
"I am also delighted that our agency IEC in Sports has ensured a strong combination of terrestrial free-to-air and satellite in most territories, with all but two of those deals in Europe being with free-to-air broadcasters," Diack added.
