ASICS expands sponsorship portfolio with Great Run Series deal

ASICS has been unveiled as the official sportswear and running shoe partner of the Bupa Great Run Series.

The three-year sponsorship package will see ASICS link up with the world’s biggest running program. More than 200,000 runners take part in the 10 Great Run Series events that run throughout the year in the UK. The Great Run Series is the latest addition to the ASICS sponsorship portfolio, with the company already a supporter of marathons in Paris, New York, Rome and Tokyo.

Under the terms of the agreement, ASICS will display, promote and sell products at some of the largest running events in the UK and will create a dedicated area on the Great Run website to offer training advice for runners.

Barry Mellis, the company’s managing director for the UK and Ireland, said the partnership would “cement ASICS’s position as the runner’s choice in the UK”. He added: “The Great Run Series events are extremely popular with experienced and novice runners alike and our expertise in producing the most advanced running shoes and apparel make this an ideal match.”

Great Run Series commercial director Nicky Homes added: “ASICS is a perfect fit with the Great Run Series, we are looking forward to continuing the success of the race events with a partner that has runners at the front of mind at all times.”
