All 31 matches of the tournament, to be staged in Poland and Ukraine, will be carried in Spain, with live broadcasts complemented by a package of dedicated magazine and highlights programmes, guaranteeing extensive free TV coverage of the competition. Mediaset will also leverage the rights across its mobile and internet platforms.
The deal additionally includes media rights for the 2011 and 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championships. However, Euro 2012 is the big draw, particularly as the Spanish national team will be defending its title, secured by a 1-0 win over Germany in the final of Euro 2008.
“We are delighted to welcome Mediaset España to the group of exclusive UEFA Euro 2012 media rights partners,” said UEFA Events SA marketing director Guy-Laurent Epstein. “We are convinced that Mediaset España, with its extensive experience, will provide Spanish football fans with a unique viewing experience for all three tournaments.”
