Premiership Rugby to stage Parliamentary Rugby Community Awards

Premiership Rugby has announced that for the sixth year running it will be celebrating its clubs’ work in the community with the Premiership Rugby Parliamentary Rugby Community Awards.

SportBusiness Group is the media partner for the Awards, which are being held in association with The All Party Parliamentary Rugby Union Group as well as partners Aviva, Land Rover and MBNA. The winners of the awards will be announced at an evening reception at Portcullis House on July 6.

Clubs will be competing for three awards; the MBNA Innovation Award designed to celebrate work which creates innovative social or community programmes; the Land Rover Impact Award designed to celebrate an established programme which is able to clearly demonstrate the positive impact it has made on a social issue; and the Aviva Club of the Year Award, given to the club which demonstrates overall excellence in their community work.

“It is vital for our clubs that they play an active role in their communities,” said Premiership Rugby CEO Mark McCafferty. “These awards will recognise the depth and breadth of work going on around the country as well as rewarding the most impactful and providing best practice examples for other clubs to learn from.”

SportBusiness Group editorial director Kevin Roberts added: “The relationship between sport and communities is growing stronger each year and in many respects rugby clubs are leading the way by creating and delivering projects which can ultimately change lives. We are proud to play a role as an Awards partner.”
