Leicester Tigers executive director Peter Wheeler, Premier Rugby duo Mark McCafferty and Jon Varney, France and London Wasps flanker Serge Betsen, Leinster Rugby CEO Mick Dawson and Rugby Football League commercial director Paul Kimberley were part of a Rugby Expo think-tank in London.
The group was joined by Steve Rac, honorary secretary of the Middlesex Rugby Football Union, Luton chairman Keith Butten and Mark Fletcher, CEO of Pitchero, the digital media company that enables rugby clubs and leagues to build and operate successful websites.
“We are grateful to the members of our think-tank for their expert guidance,” said John Hockey, chairman of Rugby Ventures, the organisers of the event. “They live and breathe rugby issues and their input will help us to develop a format and content which benefits every single visitor to this year’s Rugby Expo. Their enthusiasm, experience, insight and candour have been invaluable.”
Rugby Expo 2011 will have a fresh format, with the first day focusing on the professional game before the second day of the programme will meet the specific needs of community clubs.
“This is rugby’s own event and we want every visitor, whether from the professional game or the grassroots, to take valuable and practical lessons from the workshops and inspiration from our conference sessions,” said Hockey.
