The BOA has taken the dispute to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after the International Olympic Committee backed LOCOG’s claim that the cost of staging the Paralympics should be taken into account before distributing any profits from the Games. The BOA, which is facing a financial shortfall ahead of the Games, has insisted the Olympics and the Paralympics should be kept separate on the balance sheet.
The disagreement escalated late last week when BOA chairman Lord Moynihan and CEO Andy Hunt were barred from LOCOG board meetings.
However, Moynihan told reporters on Monday: “In the interests of the Olympic athletes and the Olympic sporting legacy for this country I can report that good progress was made over the weekend. At our request the Government has agreed to a meeting to discuss an amicable solution to the current contractual dispute.”
Moynihan will meet UK Sports Minister Hugh Robertson on Tuesday before reporting back to BOA stakeholders later in the day.
