CAF moves Youth Championship to South Africa

South Africa has been named as the new host of the 2011 African Youth Championship following the removal of the event from Libya.

The tournament was originally scheduled to commence in Tripoli on March 18, but was postponed due to the ongoing social and political unrest in the country. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has now revealed that the tournament will run from April 17 to May 2 with South Africa set to stage the Championship for the first time in its history.

"We decided to move the U20 finals to South Africa," said CAF president Issa Hayatou in a statement released on Wednesday. "The Executive Committee took that decision on Tuesday."

South Africa, which had originally not qualified for the tournament, will take Libya’s place and will face Mali, Egypt and Lesotho in Group A.
