TSN secures broadcast rights to ‘March Madness’

The Sports Network (TSN) has acquired broadcast rights within Canada to the upcoming ‘March Madness’ college men’s basketball event.

The cable platform will offer live coverage of the 2011 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Men's Basketball Championship via TSN and TSN2 from round one of the tournament on March 17.

TSN will produce an original studio show for pre and post-game analysis, along with live ‘look-ins’ to various games. All of the games from the tournament, which is one of the highlights of the basketball calendar, will be aired in high definition.

“It's hard to find an event with as much drama and excitement as NCAA March Madness,” said TSN president Stewart Johnston. “We are thrilled to add this marquee property to the TSN and TSN2 schedules.”

Johnston added: “Bringing the NCAA tournament to TSN is another example of our commitment to giving Canadians the biggest events in sports.”
