The game was switched to Bangalore after an ICC inspection committee adjudged that Eden Gardens required more renovation work before being able to stage matches during the World Cup. However, with the ground also scheduled to stage fixtures between South Africa and England on March 15, the Netherlands and Ireland on March 18 and Zimbabwe and Kenya on March 20, Lorgat told reporters that the chances of the stadium being involved were "very good".
"We have received a preliminary report after Monday's inspection and the ICC is happy with the progress made at the Eden Gardens in the past week," said Lorgat. "In all likelihood, Kolkata will hold the remaining matches in March."
Lorgat also reiterated that the ICC was in talks with Indian authorities over possible ways of legalising betting in the country in an effort to cut out corruption in the sport. "In countries, like Australia, where betting is legal or regulated, it is not so difficult to manage the issue of temptation to corruption," he added.
Lorgat was speaking at the official unveiling of Hyundai as the ICC's official car partner. The four-year deal will see Hyundai provide cars for official transportation during the 2011 Cricket World Cup in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, as well as the ICC's other competitions through to the expiration of the deal in 2015.
