Bundesliga to stay on Eurosport until 2015

Eurosport will carry action from the top two football divisions in Germany through to the end of the 2014-15 season after extending a rights deal with DFL Sports Enterprises, the commercial arm of the league.

The broadcaster has picked up TV and digital rights to the 1.Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga for 22 territories in the Nordic region, Central and Eastern Europe. The new agreement will follow on from Eurosport’s current three-year deal, which was due to expire at the end of next season.

“Eurosport 2 has been broadcasting the Bundesliga since 2009 and in only two seasons our expert coverage and promotion have significantly contributed to increased reach and ratings outside of Germany and we are convinced that the Bundesliga has even more potential,” said Eurosport Group chairman Laurent-Eric Le Lay. “The extension of our partnership with DFL confirms Eurosport 2's strategy of acquisition of premium rights and enhances the regional offer of the channel.”

DFL Sports Enterprises managing director Jörg Daubitzer added: “Eurosport is an established and also highly appreciated partner who presents the Bundesliga as a premium product on a very high level. This agreement covers key territories and meets the growing international significance and value of Bundesliga.”

Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Sweden are the territories covered by the deal.
