NOS snaps up Euro 2012 rights

NOS will air 27 live matches and highlights programmes during UEFA Euro 2012 after acquiring free-to-air broadcast rights to the tournament.

The games will be carried by Nederland 1 with NOS also offering on-demand coverage via online and mobile platforms. Euro 2012 will be co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine, and the Netherlands will be hoping to build on its impressive performance at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, where the team reached the final only to lose to Spain.

“We are delighted to have secured extensive free-to-air coverage in the Netherlands for UEFA Euro 2012,” read a statement from UEFA Events SA, the commercial subsidiary of European football’s governing body.

“We are looking forward to continuing the relationship with NOS, our long-standing broadcast partner in the Netherlands for the UEFA European Football Championship,” the statement added.

UEFA Events SA was created to manage and handle UEFA's commercial and event operations. The Netherlands currently sits on top of Qualifying Group E for Euro 2012 after winning four games out of four so far in the campaign.
