The deal, worth a total of around $300,000, has seen the bank expand its association with the sport. First Citizens is already involved in several cricket programmes and is a major backer of the West Indies Players’ Association.
“From environmental projects to culture, to medical causes and of course sports, the name First Citizens conjures positive experiences,” Azim Bassarath, president of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board, told Newsday. “As with all good partnerships, the team always benefits.”
Bassarath added: “We are confident the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board will do all in its power to ensure that the lofty ideals of our partnership are met and surpassed. Together we will work for the benefit of all stakeholders including both organisations, the game, the players, the managers and coaches, the fans, the country and the region.”
