Philip Brook appointed chairman of All England Tennis Club

The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), the private members club best known as the venue of Wimbledon tennis, yesterday announced Philip Brook as its new chairman.

The appointment, which takes place with immediate effect, was confirmed at the Club AGM. Brook, previously the club’s vice chairman, replaces Tim Phillips, who has retired after 11 years in the position.

Brook has been a member of the AELTC since 1989 and, as a player, is a former captain of Cambridge University lawn tennis team and Yorkshire Men’s Singles Champion.

He has also been a member of the International Lawn Tennis Club of Great Britain since 1977 and was Treasurer from 1986 to 2001.
