Daredevils renew two sponsorship deals

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Daredevils have extended two of their sponsorship agreements with Kingfisher Airlines and apparel brand adidas.

According to Indiantelevision.com, both deals were renewed for an extra three years and are effective from the start of IPL’s fourth season in 2011.

“We are looking at a 25-per-cent growth in local sponsorship revenue assuming the format is the same as the last time when you had eight teams playing each other,” revealed Daredevils CEO Amrit Mathur.

“We are talking to our other sponsors who had associated with us earlier like Panasonic. We had eleven sponsors last season. Some clients like Coca-Cola have ongoing deals with us.”

Two new teams have been added to the league for next season – Sahara Pune Warriors and Kochi, but the latter still needs to secure the funding to compete.

On the other hand, two franchises – Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab – have been thrown out due to breach of ownership rules and are appealing the decision.
