The brand had been a partner of the traditional sailing competition since 1983 as the title sponsors of the Challenger Series that select the team to compete against the America’s Cup holder.
But following a legal battle between current winner BMW Oracle and past defender Alinghi, there was no Challenger Series earlier this year for the 33rd edition of the Cup.
“We are extremely privileged that our vision for the next America’s Cup has attracted the return of a company like Louis Vuitton,” said America’s Cup Event Authority chairman Richard Worth.
“Having met with the team several times, we believe that the 34th edition will be the best America’s Cup yet,” added Louis Vuitton Malletier Chairman and CEO Yves Carcelle.
Besides naming again the Challenger Series as Louis Vuitton Cup, the company will serve as official timing for the America’s Cup.
