No Scottish Premier League games were affected by the strike as the local football association flew in referees from abroad, but 10 Scottish Football League matches had to be postponed.
“It was always our intention to take a time out, have a moment of reflection, then get back to normal next Saturday”, referee John McKendrick told the BBC.
“Hopefully, next weekend there will be a different atmosphere towards referees and we’ll move away from referees being the centre of attention.”
Scottish Football Association chief Stewart Regan promised to take a tougher stance on players or anybody from any club “who challenges or abuses referees in a way that is unacceptable.”
