Traverso is the man responsible for the implementation of UEFA’s financial fair play rules, which were approved this May. Under the concept, clubs will have to balance their books and operate within their financial means or face a ban from European competition. The regulations come into effect for financial statements in the period ending 2012.
Traverso will give an exclusive presentation on the financial fair play concept before joining a panel to discuss the rules, how they will be implemented, and the effects they will have on the many stakeholders in the sports industry.
“The new UEFA financial fair play requirements will be key in promoting more rationality and discipline in club football finances across Europe,” said Traverso. “Soccerex will allow us to engage with the clubs in one place; to inform them about the regulations and look at how we can work together to ensure that they are met. I am delighted to be part of the event.”
In 2011 the two-day Soccerex European Forum returns to Manchester for a second year. It will be held from March 30 to 31 at the Manchester Central conference centre. For further information call +44 (0)208742 7100 or visit www.soccerex.com/europe.
