PERFORM offers OMNISPORT platform in five new languages

Digital sport specialist PERFORM yesterday announced it will offer its sports news service, OMNISPORT, in five new languages. All video content, from January next year, will be available in Arabic, French, Italian, German and Spanish.

OMNISPORT, which combines video, editorial, data and images to create 40 sports news stories a day cleared for all media platforms, was launched last month in English.

“It’s been apparent that the sports news sector has been in need of investment and innovation for a number of years now with incumbent providers failing to move with the times,” said Oliver Slipper, PERFORM joint-CEO. “By providing the service in six languages, we are further reducing overhead requirements for broadcasters and significantly improving the speed with which they can publish breaking news from the world of sport on any platform.”

To test the market for the service, PERFORM launched a beta version of OMNISPORT for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which was taken by over fifty broadcasters, internet service providers, mobile operators and publishers including the BBC, CBS Sports, Univision, Sky New Zealand, Vodafone and Orange.

PERFORM currently streams over 15,000 live events each year and has developed over 240 web, video broadband and mobile sites for clients including the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), International Basketball Federation (FIBA), and Premier League club Chelsea.
