Argentina and Brazil World Cup icons to be honoured by Aspire4Sport

Legendary stars Carlos Alberto, Mario Kempes and Ossie Ardiles have all been confirmed for the Aspire4Sport-organised World Cup Icons presentation before the Argentina-Brazil friendly on November 17 at the Khalifa International Stadium, in Doha, Qatar.

The Aspire4Sport conference and expo will take place at the Aspire Dome, also in Doha, from November 15 to 18.

“We wanted to start with 1970 as it gives us the opportunity to honour perhaps the greatest World Cup team ever, and certainly its greatest final goal. We are delighted to announce that the legendary Carlos Alberto will be presented as our first Icon,” said Aspire4Sport co-principal Vince Cooper about the former Brazilian right back.

“It is a great idea and I am honoured to have been chosen”, said Ardiles, part of the 1978 World Cup winning Argentina team alongside Kempes.

The World Cup Icons will see a number of football stars from the last 40 years of the tournament honoured by the fans and presented with awards prior to the match.

Aspire4Sport will also promote other major events including the Aspire4Sport Tennis Masters with John McEnroe playing Bjorn Borg.
