Revenue rose eight per cent on last year to $5.18 billion thanks to a sales boost in China (11 per cent to $460 million, driven by revenue from basketball shoes) and North America (eight per cent to $1.9 billion).
“We’re looking at a continued healthy recovery,” Nike chief executive officer Mark Parker said. “I still contend a slow, steady state of recovery. I don’t see dramatic shifts in that course at this stage.”
“Going forward we’ll continue to maximize the flexibility, balance and alignment that we have built into our portfolio of brands and categories.
“Those strengths will help us navigate the continued uncertainty in the macro-economic picture.”
Revenues in emerging markets also sky rocketed, growing by a 30-per-cent margin.
