Vodafone’s agreement with the GAA ended last weekend with the conclusion of the All-Ireland senior final.
Carmaker Toyota had already pulled out its GAA football sponsorship and so did Irish broadcaster RTE with its involvement in hurling, both being replaced by retail grocery outlets SuperValu and Centra, respectively.
However, the GAA told local newspaper The Irish Times that it has no intention of changing its multi-sponsor model whereby a separate trio of companies sponsors each its hurling and football packages.
Airline Etihad is also at the end of its partnership with hurling, while Brewery Gunness is signed up until 2011 and Centra until 2012. SuperValu has another two years to go in its football contract, but Ulster Bank’s deal is running out.
